Bus

The bus system in Barbados is an adventure all its own and many guests who have stayed as little as a week at the Villa have found they catch on to it very quickly and it is quick easy and inexpensive to get around.  You can catch the bus right at the end of the street just a couple minute walk.   Here are a few tips from travellers on it, also if you have any other questions about navigating it feel free to ask Harriett upon arrival and she will be able to fill in the gaps for you.

The bus is $3.50BBD.  The city bus is good, but the little white busses go by more often and are the same price. They do however go faster and really cram people in (ZR’s you may want to avoid those).  You just flag them down and they pick you up.  The 3D is the one that goes to the airport or to Bridgetown.  If it's too crowded you just say no thanks and wait for the next one.

Guests who have stayed and not wanted to rent a car have recommended using a combination of the bus, taxi and then booking a few excursions.  Most excursions include pick up and drop off at the villa.

You will need to purchase a Barbados drivers license which they will sort out for you.  It is about $10.00US.

Since the Villa is so close to the airport lots of guests find it quite handy to get a taxi from the airport to the villa (it is very affordable.)  That way you can have the rental car delivered to the Villa and its less hassle sorting it all out there than with all your luggage.  You may also find you can rent a smaller car (which makes it more affordable when you don’t have all your luggage to factor in.)  The welcome pack is more than substantial to get you through your first night so many don’t have their car delivered until the next morning.
